The 2026.26 Summer Update: what actually arrives on a car you order now
Grok can now place calls and open the glovebox, Teams and Discord joined Theater mode, and navigation started learning your routes. An inventory, not a review.
Tesla's Summer Update rolled out publicly as 2026.26 in the first days of August 2026, with a point release, 2026.26.1, following days later to fix bugs and tighten security. This is the build a car ordered now is likely to be delivered on, so rather than review it — we have not driven every feature, and pretending otherwise would be worthless to you — here is a plain inventory of what is in it.

The two entries that are more than a novelty
Most of a Summer Update is comfort. Two items here are not. Rear-display touch locking is the first time the back screen can be handed to passengers without handing over control of it — a genuinely useful thing if the back seats are used by children. And Parental Controls plus Dashcam Clip Encryption being broadened matters if a second driver uses the car: one limits what they can do, the other limits who can read the footage afterwards.
Navigation learning your routes is the one we would treat with mild caution. A car that suggests the school run at 08:10 is convenient; it is also a car that has recorded that you do the school run at 08:10. That is a trade worth making deliberately rather than by default.
What it has to do with a referral link
Directly, nothing — and that is worth saying plainly, because feature announcements get folded into referral pages as though they were part of the offer. They are not. Software updates go to every car that qualifies for them, whether a referral link was used or not. What the referral link changes is the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) trial, which is a separate thing from the Summer Update and shipped on its own schedule this month.
The one place they meet is expectation-setting. If you order now, 2026.26 is roughly what the car will do when it arrives — not the feature list from a review filmed last winter, and not a feature you saw demonstrated on a different hardware generation.
Rollout is gradual, and not every car gets every item. Tesla stages updates by region and by hardware, and some features in this release depend on the computer and screen fitted to the car. Treat the table above as what is in the release, not as a guarantee of what is in your specific vehicle on delivery day.
