What your Tesla referral benefit is worth, by model (calculated for 2026)

The dollar figure is identical across models. The weight it carries in your actual purchase decision isn't — here's the calculation.

Our dated benefit table shows the same referral perk applies to Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck: 3 months of free FSD (Supervised), worth 3 × $99 = $297 at the standalone monthly price (we round to ~$300 elsewhere on this site; $297 is the precise figure). Tesla Solar gets a separate flat $400 off. Model S and Model X get nothing — both were removed from the referral program in March 2026.

What almost nobody calculates is how that fixed $297 behaves once you compare it against what you're actually spending. A flat dollar amount is worth more, proportionally, on a cheaper car than an expensive one — obvious once you say it, but nobody publishes the numbers.

The calculation: value as a percentage of price

Using illustrative 2026 configurator prices — not quotes, and not what you'll necessarily pay once you add wheels, paint or FSD purchase — here's how the same $297 scales:

Illustrative configurator prices, not quotes — check your own build. Referral value verified 13 July 2026.
ModelIllustrative priceReferral valueValue as % of price
Model 3$42,000$2970.71%
Model Y$47,000$2970.63%
Cybertruck AWD$70,000$2970.42%
Cybertruck Cyberbeast$100,000$2970.30%

The pattern is consistent: the referral link is worth roughly 0.7% off a Model 3, but only about 0.3% off a fully-optioned Cyberbeast. Same $297, less than half the relative weight.

The cost-per-day framing

Another way to see the same $297: spread over a 90-day trial, it works out to about $297 / 90 ≈ $3.30 per day of FSD (Supervised) access you're not paying for — regardless of which model you ordered. If you'd have subscribed anyway, that's $3.30/day back in your pocket for three months, full stop.

Solar's $400 doesn't scale with system size

Unlike the vehicle trial, the $400 solar credit is a flat discount, not tied to the size of your Panels or Solar Roof order. Residential solar system costs vary enormously by home and region, so we won't publish a single "% of system" figure here — but directionally, a smaller residential system will see a larger relative discount than a large one, the same pattern as the vehicles above. As one illustration only: on a modest $15,000 residential system, $400 off is about 2.7%; on a larger $30,000 system it's closer to 1.3% — get your own quote before assuming either number applies to your roof.

Why the referral value doesn't move with trim or paint either

It's worth being explicit about what does not change the $297: your paint color, wheel choice, interior selection or whether you buy FSD outright instead of subscribing. The referral benefit is tied to the model line (Model 3 / Y / Cybertruck) and to placing the order through a verified link — not to any option you add afterward in the configurator. Two buyers ordering the same Model Y trim but different paint get the identical $297 trial; the percentage only shifts because the underlying price moved, not because the referral value did.

Don't let $297 drive a $20,000+ decision

If you're genuinely cross-shopping Model 3 against Cybertruck, the referral link's dollar value should not move that decision — it's a rounding error next to the price gap between those two vehicles. Where it does matter is the free part: it costs you nothing to open a verified link before you configure, on any model, so there's no reason not to claim it regardless of which car you land on.
